The 30 day Public Comment period on the new NPDES discharge permit for the Downriver Sewage Disposal System expired March 3, and no objections were submitted to the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (“MDEQ”).  MDEQ is now preparing to officially issue the permit to Wayne County, and it will go into effect as of November 1, 2017.  The new permit will transfer to DUWA as of the effective date that the Authority assumes responsibility for the Downriver Sewage Disposal System.
